Meet Hamilton
Hamilton R. Grant and his amazing wife Alana R. Grant reside in the county district in which he was raised in. Hamilton was educated by Richland School District Two and is a 2007 graduate of Richland Northeast High School. He pursued his higher education at South Carolina State University where he graduated in 2011 obtaining a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. While at S.C. State University, He was a member of the prized Marching 101 band and was selected by fellow band members and band staff to serve for two years as a Drum Major. After his studies at S.C. State he enrolled in Alabama A&M University located in Huntsville, Alabama to pursue his MBA. Hamilton graduated with a Masters In Business Administration in May of 2014. Hamilton currently serves as President for Grant Business Advisors, LLC (GBA). GBA is a financial and strategic advisory firm for nonprofits, small businesses and middle market companies.

Hamilton plays an active, passionate, and invested role in his community. He is the President of the Columbia Urban League’s Young Professionals, serves as a Project Ready Mentors, served as Vice Chair of The Talented Tenth Young Professionals started by Mayor Steve Benjamin, sits on the Famously Hot New Years Advisory Board as Co-Chair, a member of the South Carolina Young Democrats, a graduate of The Columbia Chamber of Commerce Leadership Columbia Class of 2017, graduate of The James E. Clyburn Political Fellowship Class of 2017, and Vice President for the Hate Won't Win Movement (In Honor of Emanuel 9).
In 2017, Columbia Business Monthly Magazine named Hamilton one of Columbia’s Best and Brightest Under 35.He was after named by Columbia Metropolitan Magazine as one of Columbia’s Top Ten Young Professionals for 2018. In May of 2018, with 44 votes in the South Carolina State Senate and 109 votes in the South Carolina House of Representatives, Hamilton was elected to serve his Alma Mater as a member of the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees making him the youngest serving Trustee at the institution and one of the youngest serving Trustees elected to a College/University in the State of South Carolina.
Hamilton is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Hamilton is most proud to be the husband to his wife Alana R. Grant and is honored to have her with him in the journey to serve his home district.

Meet Alana
Alana Grant was born and raised in Newport News, Va. She graduated from Elizabeth City State University in 2011 with a Bachelors or Arts degree in Music Education and again with a Masters of Arts degree in Music Education from Norfolk State University. Formerly employed as an educator with Norfolk Public Schools, Mrs. Grant now works as a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty and the CEO of her nonprofit, Hate Won’t Win Movement, Inc. The Hate Won’t Win Movement was founded in June of 2015 in honor of her grandfather, Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr. who was one of the victims in the “Mother” Emmanuel AME shooting in Charleston, SC. Alana has been privileged to engage with communities, churches, schools, and businesses as a motivational speaker and organizer. Alana believes leadership begins with serving and holds several leadership positions in her community including being the youngest serving ECSU Foundation Board Member, the Vice President of the Columbia Urban League Young Professionals, a member of the Education Council for the United Way Midlands and of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc. Alana is excited to be on this journey with her husband and can’t wait for him to serve not only his home district but the district they both call home.
