Improving Our State’s Housing Crisis

  • Religious Institutions Affordable Housing Act (H.3458)

    • Allows churches and faith-based organizations to build affordable housing while keeping their tax-exempt status. (In Committee)

  • Housing Discrimination Protections (H.3336)

    • Prevents discrimination in housing based on disability and source of income. (In Committee)

  • South Carolina Mentoring Day (H.3345)

    • Designates January 20 as “South Carolina Mentoring Day” to recognize the role of mentorship. (In Committee)

 

Building a Sustainable South Carolina Workforce

  • Small Business Construction Impact Relief Act (H.4467)

    • Creates a state-run loan program to help small businesses offset construction-related disruptions. (In Committee)

  • Educator Assistance Act (H.3196)

    • Enhances teacher contracts, planning time, professional development, and leave policies. (Signed Into Law)

  • Workforce Readiness & FAFSA Access (H.3197)

    • Establishes remediation programs, requires FAFSA completion before graduation, and improves access to career data. (In Committee)

  • Doula Access & Reimbursement (H.3108)

    • Requires Medicaid and private insurance to cover doula services. Establishes a statewide doula registry and certification process. (In Committee)

Protecting the Integrity of Public Education

  • Universal Head Start and Early Head Start Act (H.3573)

    • Expands early childhood education access statewide through Head Start programs. (In Committee)

  • Teen Dating Violence Prevention (H.3036 & H.3317)

    • Requires schools to educate students about teen dating violence and implement related policies. (In Committee)

  • Racial Disparity in Academic Testing Reports (H.3206)

    • Requires schools to post public reports showing racial disparities in standardized test scores. (In Committee)

  • Panic Alert Systems & Weapons Detection in Schools (H.3258 & H.3237)

    • Improves school safety through required mobile alert systems and studies on weapons detection.
