South Carolina lawmakers honored Columbia native and WWE superstar Trick Williams with a resolution recognizing his accomplishments in professional wrestling and his impact on the community during a live appearance on WLTX on Tuesday.
State Representative Hamilton Grant of Richland County presented the honor on behalf of the South Carolina House of Representatives, noting all 124 House members supported the resolution.

"South Carolina has 124 members of the House of Representatives,” Grant said. “We disagree on everything. We rarely agree on anything, but under the rare circumstances last week, all 124 members agreed that you are deserving of this House resolution.”
Grant called Williams “a native son of South Carolina” and “a South Carolina ambassador” while recognizing his recent success in WWE, including his United States Championship victory at WrestleMania and a successful title defense at Backlash.
Williams, whose real name is Matrick Belton, grew up in Columbia and attended Keenan High School before continuing his football career at the University of South Carolina. Many Midlands residents still know him by his local nickname, “Matrix Felton.”
During the interview, Williams reflected on what it means to return home as one of WWE’s rising stars.
