Run for Something endorses Hamilton Grant

for Richland County Council District 8

Progressive wave builds momentum with new candidates in South Carolina

March 30, 2020 - Hamilton Grant is proud to receive the endorsement of Run for Something (RFS), the groundbreaking organization that recruits and supports strong voices in the next generation of progressive leadership. In the midst of a pandemic that has laid bare the need for committed and coordinated leaders in our country, RFS is proud to endorse 81 new candidates this month, who are running for state and local office in 2020. This new crop of emerging leaders brings us to the major milestone of 1056 candidates endorsed overall.

“I am excited to receive the endorsement of Run for Something. This national organization is doing a lot for candidates like myself and they are committed to seeing better communities starting locally. Local elections matter and with their help this one will change Richland County for years to come.” says Grant. “The stakes have never been higher and more clear. Our country needs leaders who have the ability to connect, to care and to innovate. COVID-19 has shown us we need new solutions to both old problems and to emerging challenges,” says RFS co-founder Ross Morales Rocketto. “These are candidates who are going to work hard to run grassroots, community-led campaigns. We are at a critical time in history and the momentum these candidates generate will have a lasting impact for years to come.” The endorsement process includes an extensive internal review with background check, staff review and insight from local state experts. In fact, the story of RFS is one of taking action at a moment of national anxiety. Amanda Litman and Ross Morales Rocketto launched RFS on Trump’s inauguration date after reflecting on what our country needed upon Hillary Clinton’s staggering defeat. They began with a simple premise: help young diverse progressives run for down-ballot races to build a bench for the future. With more than 1000 endorsed candidates, RFS is doing exactly that-- investing in a future where new leaders will take on the new challenges of our time.
